*Note: This was a letter that was sent to Grandma Bunny from one of Ike's cousins in Nampa, ID.
In recent days there have been two decisive victories worthy of note. While they are distinctly different in many ways they have some similarities.
Last Saturday BSU won a victory over the University of Nevada to bring them into contention for a Bowl game later this year The actual one is to be decided by a committee and will be known for sure later this week. Today Ike won a victory that wins him a place at a banquet table of the eternities. His reward has already been decided by a "Committee of Three" known as the Trinity and will be held at the end of the age at the Marriage Supper of The Lamb. This has already been settled before the beginning of time or the foundation of the world.
BSU brought victory to the valley (Treasure Valley). Ike brought victory through the valley (of the shadow of death).
The "playing field" of the two games (the game of football, and the game of life) are somewhat similar - the first has to do with one hundred yards, the second (in Ike's case) had to do with one hundred years. In each, the aims were identical - to go forward, neither without foes to overcome, some blockages in the process, even some fumbles along the turf, but always with the determination to make it past the final line into the end zone. That's known as a "touchdown" in both cases. While a football player crosses into the end zone to be a victor,
Ike crossed the Jordan for the beginning of his eternal victory.
The football players were watched and rooted on by thousands of fans in the stands, in homes, in restaurants, etc. Ike was "surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses". The city of Boise welcomed their victors with a great reception. The New Jerusalem welcomed Ike home with an innumerable company of saints, choirs of angels, and most of all by his "Captain", His lifelong "Manager".
No wonder then that in the face of death the Christian does not sorrow as those who have no hope. Because He lives (Jesus) we all shall live also and be reunited with those who before us have won the victory!!
To family and friends we share in your loss at the passing of Ike. We also share in the joy in that we know he has received the reward for that he has staked his whole life, by faith, now a reality! And for many of us it will only be a short "yard", maybe even feet, or inches until our game of life is over. And the goal will not be "whether we won or lost, but how we have played the game".
P.S. - BSU won a trophy that will tarnish in time, and /or be passed on to others. Ike has "received a crown of glory that fadeth not away", "reserved in heaven" for him.

I've been keeping myself busy. I think that helps. I want to go on with my life...no more mourning for a man that isn't suffering anymore and gets to be with Jesus now! :-)
